Campaign Briefing

The Issue

For over 60 years, STV North has been the voice of the North and North-east, telling the stories that matter to our communities, holding power to account, and celebrating the people, places, and culture that make this part of Scotland unique.

Now, that voice is under threat.

Plans to cut or centralise STV North will destroy local journalism, cost vital jobs, and strip away our ability to make decisions about how our stories are told.

Local news isn't just about headlines, it's about community, democracy, and identity. Without a strong regional newsroom, people across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, the Highlands and Islands, Dundee, Tayside and Perthshire will lose representation, visibility, and trust in the media that serves them.

We call on STV, regulators, and decision-makers to stop these cuts and protect STV North's independence and investment in regional journalism.

Because when we lose local news, we lose our voice.

Sign now to Save STV North — and stand up for the communities of the North and North-east of Scotland.
